Ingredients

1 box strawberry cake mix

1/2 stick butter, melted

1 large egg

8 oz. cream cheese, softened

1/4 c. sugar

1 pt. heavy cream

1 c. sliced strawberries

Preparation

Step 1Preheat oven to 350° and grease a 9"-x-9" baking pan.Step 2Make the strawberry cake crust: Beat cake mix, butter and egg using an electric mixer until thoroughly combined. (The dough will be pebble-like—closer to a pie crust than cake batter.) Press the dough in an even layer on the bottom of the prepared pan and cook for 5 to 7 minutes. Set aside to cool for at least 20 minutes.Step 3Make the cheesecake-flavored whipped cream: Whip cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Pour in heavy cream and beat until stiff peaks form, about 2 more minutes. Spread in an even layer atop cooled strawberry cake bar crust and refrigerate at least 2 hours, or up to overnight.Step 4Cover entire cake with sliced strawberries just before serving.
