Ingredients

1 pound smoked kielbasa1 pound dried split peas6 cups water1 cup chopped carrots1 cup chopped onion1 cup chopped celery1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley1 teaspoon salt1/2 teaspoon coarse black pepper2 bay leaves

Preparation

Cut sausage in half lengthwise; cut into 1/4-in. pieces. Place in a Dutch oven or stockpot; add remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 hours or until peas are tender. Remove bay leaves.
