Ingredients

1/4 cup soy sauce2 tablespoons water3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced1 tablespoon brown sugar1 tablespoon canola oil1/2 teaspoon ground ginger1/2 teaspoon pepper1 beef flank steak (1 pound)

Preparation

In a shallow dish, combine the first seven ingredients; add steak and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight, turning occasionally.

Drain steak, discarding marinade. Grill, covered, over medium-hot heat for 6-8 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°).
