Ingredients

1 package (16 ounces) dried split peas2 cups cubed fully cooked ham1 cup diced carrots1 medium onion, chopped2 garlic cloves, minced2 bay leaves1/2 teaspoon salt1/2 teaspoon pepper5 cups boiling water1 cup hot whole milk

Preparation

In a 5-qt. slow cooker, layer the first 9 ingredients in order listed (do not stir). Cover and cook on high for 4-5 hours or until vegetables are tender. Stir in milk. Discard bay leaves before serving.
