Ingredients

2 tablespoons brown sugar, divided1 teaspoon salt3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper1/4 teaspoon pepper1 beef top sirloin steak (1 inch thick and 1 pound)3/4 cup balsamic vinaigrette, divided1 medium onion, sliced2 tablespoons butter1 package (5 ounces) spring mix salad greens1/2 cup dried cranberries1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese

Preparation

In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, cayenne and pepper. Rub over both sides of steak. Brush with 1/4 cup vinaigrette.

Place steak on a broiler pan. Broil 4 in. from heat 5-6 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°).

Meanwhile, in a large skillet, saute onion in butter until tender, about 10 minutes. Add remaining brown sugar; cook and stir over medium heat until onion is browned, 5-10 minutes.

Cut steak across the grain into thin slices. In a large bowl, combine greens, cranberries, blue cheese, onion and beef. Drizzle with remaining vinaigrette; toss to coat.
